Basic Tutorial -- Step 3: Create an activity

--|------- Back | Next | Index

Add another rule

Let's add another activity. Click on the New button in the button bar in the middle of the window or choose the Rule | New Rule menu item. You should get a second rule. You may notice a "#2" in the upper left corner of the rule editor. This shows you what rule in the table you're editing. The editor will automatically fill in the first field (context) with the context of the previously selected rule. Let's leave it at that, and type "climb a tree" in the command field. Then press Tab to move to the reply field. You can then type, "You climb a tree and can see nothing but tree tops for miles around you."

Test the second rule

Now let's test this out. Go back to the player and click on look again. The system will again display the look information, and when it is done it will update the command list to include both "look" and "climb a tree". Clicking on "climb a tree" should get you:

> climb a tree

You climb a tree and can see nothing but tree tops for miles around you.

If it doesn't have this command available try to figure out what went wrong. Perhaps you typed "look" in the reply field and the reply in the move field. If the reply is missing, also make sure the right text is in the right field. Make sure nothing has been entered in the requirements or changes fields. If all else fails, go back to step 1.
