How to download files
Each of our download packages is a self-extracting installation program. You will need enough free hard disk space to hold several times the size of any downloaded file in order to expand the compressed files.
If you are using Netscape Navigator, when you click on a download link you will probably see a dialog that says "Unknown File Type". Click the [Save File...] button. You can also right-click on the link and pick [Save Link As...] from the popup menu.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you will probably see a dialog that says "Confirm File Open". Click the [Save As...] button. You can also right-click on the link and pick [Save Target As...] from the popup menu.
How to install the program
After the installation program is saved, find it in your Windows Explorer. Before you run the installation program, we strongly recommend that you check the file size (in bytes) against the file sizes we report on the download page to make sure the file was downloaded completely. To find out the size of a file in bytes in Windows 95/NT, select the file in Windows Explorer, then choose Properties from the File menu and look at the number labeled Size.
When you have verified that the file was completely downloaded, run the installation program to begin the installation process. You can also install the program from the Add/Remove Programs control panel (Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Install, Next, Browser, choose the file you downloaded).
How to uninstall the program
Unless you have downloaded the Windows 3.1 version of Garden with Insight, you will find an Uninstall icon in the Start-Programs menu item for the program you installed. You can also uninstall the program from the Add/Remove Programs control panel (Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, choose the program, click Add/Remove). What to do if you can't download the whole file
Some of our download files are large, and you might lose your connection before you retrieve the whole file. We have no mirror site, so you just need to keep trying.
There are several download manager programs out there, like Go!Zilla and RealDownload that help you download large files by restarting and completing partial downloads (so you don't have to download the whole thing again if there is a problem). We suggest giving one of these a try if you have problems downloading our files.
What to do if the installation program will not run or reports an error
This usually means that the file became corrupted during download. This can happen because of a temporarily lost connection, noise on the phone line, or many other reasons. The only thing you can do is to download the file again. You might try this when the internet is less busy, such as late at night or early in the morning.
