Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: Soil daily P group

P as labile by layer: Phosphorus as phosphate ions in solution and available to plants. Increased by mineralization of fresh organic and humus P; decreased by plant uptake, loss in eroded soil, equilibrium flow to active mineral P, and leaching by percolation and lateral flow.

P as fresh organic in flat residue by layer: Phosphorus in flat residue (dead plant matter) and live microbial biomass in each layer -- 'fresh' meaning 'less decayed'. Increased by decay of standing dead residue and soil amendments; decreased by mineralization to labile P and loss in eroded soil.

P as organic in humus by layer: Phosphorus in organic compounds in the humus of each soil layer. Increased by mineralization of fresh organic P; decreased by mineralization to labile P and loss in erosion.

P as active mineral by layer: The amount of phosphorus in the form of active (loosely held) mineral deposits in each soil layer. Increased by equilibrium flow from labile P and addition of soil amendments; decreased by flow to stable mineral P and loss in eroded soil.

P as stable mineral by layer: The amount of phosphorus in the form of stable (tightly held) mineral deposits in each soil layer. Increased by equilibrium flow from active mineral P and addition of soil amendments; decreased by loss in eroded soil.
