Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: How to make plants draw faster

To make plants draw faster, change plant drawing options in the display options window. Choose Display from the Options menu on the garden window. The display options window will appear.

The display options window

At the bottom of the window are two panels, called Garden window plant drawing options and Browser window plant drawing options. The check boxes in these panels control how plants are drawn in the garden window and the browser.

To make the plants draw faster in either the garden window or the browser, first turn off the general options sort polygons and draw lines between polygons. Drawing takes longer with these options on, but they are not considered important in normal drawing.

Next check any or all of the three check boxes in these panels after the heading To speed drawing, draw. The check boxes are as follows.

simple leaves instead of compound: When a plant has compound leaves (each leaf is made up of smaller leaflets), it is quicker to draw instead only one leaf. This option might look strange for some plants which have large compound leaves.

straight lines instead of curved: The arching curves of plant stems are drawn by dividing each straight line into three or more sections. Drawing each line as only one straight section speeds up drawing and for most plants is not very noticeable.

wire frame leaves, flowers and fruit: The 3D objects on plants (leaves, flowers, fruits, etc.) can either be filled with color or left as wire frames. Wire frames draw more quickly.
